Anaesthesia unit (A stand-alone assembly of devices used to continuously or intermittently administer and monitor a mixture of gases [oxygen (O2), nitrous oxide (N2O), and anaesthetic agents] to provide a patient with an appropriate level of anaesthesia. It is typically mobile with mechanical gas-delivery devices (e.g., the flowmeters and vaporizers); but it may also be wall-mounted, often for use in induction rooms. It typically incorporates an electrically-powered anaesthesia ventilator and patient/gas monitoring devices. It is also known as an anaesthesia machine or an anaesthesia apparatus.)
