Pacemaker electrode, transcutaneous (A device that is fixed on the external surface of the chest for the application of electrical pacing stimuli to the heart that is delivered through a wire from a connected external pacemaker. It is typically a pre-gelled, disposable pad with a large surface area (80 to 100 square cm); it may have high impedance (e.g., larger than 500 Ohms) for pacing only, or low for pacing and defibrillation. It can deliver simultaneous stimuli to all chambers of the heart and can be used to assist in resuscitating patients, correct arrhythmias, for temporary pacing during invasive procedures, or provide backup pacing during surgical placement of implantable pacemakers. This is a single-use device.)
